Friends of the Museum

vaccin Grenoble

This museum, which bears witness to an important aspect of the industrial heritage of the region around Lyon, is devoted to the history of human and animal vaccinology, as well as the history of biological diagnostics from the end of the 19th century to the present day.
It is a symbolic place that serves a bridge between the past and the future.

- It is a symbol of the unwavering association between the municipality and the biological industry, which has grown continuously to become a world leader.

- It provides a record of the achievements of the Mérieux family and their colleagues, some of which have had a global impact.

- It represents the future of a range of new technologies which are revolutionizing the fields of vaccines and biological diagnostics.

The museum was designed, created and managed by a not-for-profit-association. Didier Hübsch was the first chairman, and the association is now in the capable hands of Bernard de l'Escaille..
The museum is also supported by another association – the Friends of the Museum association – which was created in April 2008. Its aim is to  :

- Bring together former, current and future friends and colleagues of the Mérieux Foundation, Sanofi Pasteur, bioMérieux and Merial.

- Actively promote the museum (as an example of the promotion of industrial heritage).

- Help managethe museum.

- Organize events (such as temporary exhibitions and conferences) on topical issues relating to vaccines, biological diagnostics and emerging infectious diseases.
